There are many social media networks, but what professional networks should companies maintain and why?
Why should you set up LinkedIn or XING for your business? Both XING and LinkedIn are great for companies to present themselves as employers. Using company pages on LinkedIn or XING, potential future employees can find out about your company on the one hand. On the other hand, as a company, you can advertise jobs over the networks, so you can see directly whether an applicant fits the requirements or not. You can also have your company rated by your employees as an employer. On the one hand this creates confidence in your future employees and on the other hand one can optimize the company structures on the basis of the honest feedbacks and thus reduce the fluctuation rate. Which network fits which company? Many companies are building a corporate page on both XING and LinkedIn to reach more users. The agency Alike has written a fascinating article about user behavior in Switzerland. It turned out that LinkedIn was far ahead of XING in terms of reach in Switzerland and XING. This trend has been observed for some time and will continue. However, one should not be too distracted by studies, but focus on the following W-questions, so that a company can find the right network. Which market are we working on? What must our company side be able to do? How do we want to recruit people through my company profile? Which advertising options do we need? How much are we willing to invest for a corporate page? Case study: The company XY is interested in a company page on XING or LinkedIn. But the company only has resources to maintain a company page. That's why the company tests its needs with the W questions: Which market are we working on? We work on the DACH region! What must our company side be able to do? We should be able to recruit new employees and we want to highlight our company as an employer. In addition, it would be desirable if we could advertise. How much are we willing to invest for a corporate page? We are ready to invest 100 CHF for a company profile. Based on these basics, a sound decision for a network can be made. What are the advantages and disadvantages of LinkedIn and Xing? Like everything in life, both LinkedIn and XING have their pros and cons. A comparison of the two social media platforms shows which advantages and which disadvantages are generated. First Conclusion LinkedIn stands out above all due to its international network and the lower premium prices of XING. Companies that could not decide on a network in spite of the W-questions asked, there are no disadvantages if you create a company profile (free version) on both networks. If you find out in the end that LinkedIn or XING is not profitable for you, you can still delete that one network profile.
